Welcome to a very special milestone! This month marks 8 years since I stared Australian Environmental Education (AEE). When I launched this platform back on Threatened Species Day in 2019, it was born out of a simple question: “What can I do to make a difference?” My answer was to share my deep passion for the natural world and make environmental science accessible, hands-on and fun for everyone.
I have had the absolute privilege of connecting with schools, community groups and families across Australia. From backyard biodiversity to coastal habitats, we have explored the wonders of the natural world together. Today, I want to pause and celebrate just how far AEE has come!
1 Million Visitors a Massive Website Milestone!
I am absolutely thrilled and humbled to share that the AEE website has officially reached a monumental milestone of 1 million unique visitors and over 2.5 million page views in May 2026.
To see that over a million of you have turned to this platform to learn and spark your curiosity is beyond anything I ever imagined. Since the beginning, the website has grown immensely to include:
- 200+ Educational webpages that cover everything from my backyard to the deep sea.
- 120+ Blog post help explore the “why” and “how” of our incredible natural world and what I still love to discover.
- Incursions and Virtual Excursions help reach students across Australia (and the world!) to bring the bush and the sea directly into classrooms.
- Integrating Citizen Science program help thousands of you contribute to vital research through projects like FrogID and local biodiversity surveys.
Proud to be a 2026 Awards Finalist
The anniversary celebrations don’t stop there. I am incredibly proud to share that Australian Environmental Education has been named a finalist in the 2026 Local Business Awards: Central Coast for Outstanding Education Services and finalist in the 2026 NSW Business Awards: Central Coast Micro Business.
This is a nod to the ongoing commitment to high quality environmental education. It is an honour to be recognised on such a large scale.

My goal has always been to increase scientific literacy and empower the next generation of environmental stewards. Out of the 200+ content pages, these Top 10 resources have proven to be your absolute favourites, racking up an astonishing 650,000 views alone!
Looking Ahead: My 2026 Vision
As I look toward the future, my focus is shifting from simply “learning” about nature to “doing” more for it. My 2026 Vision is to see every backyard, schoolyard, and balcony become a sanctuary for our native species. I want to make Citizen Science a daily habit and celebrate the “hidden” biodiversity right on our doorsteps—like our pollinators, fungi, and fascinating invertebrates.
To every teacher who has shared a link in their classroom, every parent searching for a school holiday activity, and every student who has sent a message about a cool bug they found—thank you. You are proof that curiosity is the first step toward conservation.
